A little history

The temple of music

The Teatro alla Scala theatre in Milan is generally referred to as a temple of music.  Yet, not everybody knows that it was erected on the ashes of the Teatro Ducale theatre in 1776 right where a church, namely Santa Maria alla Scala, had formerly stood.

Great Italian music drama and Giuseppe Verdi

From Gioachino Rossini to Vincenzo Bellini, it was great Italian music drama to rule the first half of the nineteenth century leading   to the Risorgimento Opera season with Giuseppe Verdi's Nabucco.

Evolution and innovation

Toscanini's reform, Maria Callas and the prestigious Corps de ballet, Claudio Abbado and Riccardo Muti. And finally the great renovation works in the 2000s.
